In December, we will be highlighting the Foundation’s Arts & Culture Mission Fund and learn more about all the amazingly beautiful murals that have been popping up all over the county through CREATE Portage County’s Paint the County project. This project was started to provide artists access to revenue streams during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 15 murals around the county make space for underrepresented voices to be more visible in our community, draw people to new, or under-activated spaces, and spread creative identity to all parts of the county. Many of the murals celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment by incorporating inspirational quotations authored by women from marginalized backgrounds. Community Foundation CEO, Jenny Riggenbach, and co-host Arts & Culture Mission Fund Founder, Bill Schierl, will sit down with CREATE Project Activator, Dana Sonnenberg, and local artist and creator of the RBG mural in downtown Stevens Point, Jessie Fritsch. Join us for this conversation and learn why public art plays a significant role in a community and the importance of supporting efforts like these. Lunch options provided by Ruby Coffee Roasters Cafe are a Breakfast Sandwich with local ham, egg and cheese on Main Grain Rustic White Bread or a Soup & Sandwich with tomato bisque soup and a three-cheese blend grilled cheese sandwich on Main Grain Rustic White Bread.
